Multiplayer Online game coming to Android

I’m tired of World of Warcraft ( I cant believe I said that, probably to grab your attention!) , sitting on my sofa and playing it like no tomorrow! I need something different!

We’re heading into a world where PCs will be reduced to portable Mobile devices (about which I’ll have an article soon) and this calls for a change.

Enter into Parallel Kingdom! This new game is exploiting into a virtually empty space in mobile game industry where your move abouts in the real world actually have something to do with the game.

Their  blog writes

Parallel Kingdom uses location-based features to place the virtual world over the real world, where you can kill creatures, collect gold, and destroy your friends.

Im still not exactly sure what we are supposed to do in this game! I’ll have to experience it. From the looks of it, Parallel Kingdom is based completely on the location based services of your iPhone, iPod, Android – GPS but appears to have ignored their graphic capabilities. I mean com’on! We could have a much better game design other than just laying out maps slapped with icons. Nonetheless, Parallel Kingdom is still in beta stage and deserves to be recognized for its promising concept. It can spark a whole new range of games in this “location based” category.

And its game-network combines iPhone, iPod, Android. In other words, if you see a lot of players in your area rest assured, they’re all Apple eaters or Googlers!

Release date : 31st October 2008.

ps: for some reason, im reminded of an episode of CSI:NY!  and now its scaring me

Wall Street Journal reports that the first Android Powered Mobile phone brought out by T-Mobile is going for $199. Its appearently in direct competition with Apple’s iPhone interms of contract.

Whats really to point out here is if the device has been subsidized by carrier?

HTC, the Taiwanese device manufacturer, will set the price tag at its release in Gulf, Asia. An iPhone in India 8GB costs 31,000 RS. It is incredibly overpriced. Vodafone and Airtel, carriers, probably wanted to sweep the creamy layer first  followed by real market value price cuts. Price cuts arent announced yet, but we should see some change in Q1 2009.

Android would enter India as well as Gulf countries as a GSM mobile device, unlocked! ( this is just speculation by me based on market trends here)

Android Phones should be less expensive than Windows Mobile Devices and Symbian due to the very nature of open free software. How big will be the difference? We should know when other OHA members release their tigers!

iPhone in India – Status Update!

Posted on September 9, 2008. Filed under: android | Tags: , , , , , , |

Its been weeks since our gift of god to mankind iPhone 3G arrived in India. Intial rumors always suggested a Selling Price (subsidized as in U.S.) would be 9000 RS, but since the bloggers didnt quite know Steve Jobs and his bitten Apple … and a slew of overpriced Products, they WERE WRONG.

iPhone 3G arrived in India with a whopping 31,000 RS for 8gb and 36,000 RS for 16GB. Which is pretty much the unsubsidized rate. And to add to that, iPhone will BE LOCKED!

amm.. heres a lil suggestion to the careers  of this offer : Vodafone and AirTel, So you thought u could dance? realy? with this price? targeting clever indian consumers? You’ve got to be kidding me!

The price is simply outrageous, preposturous! and caters only to the creams, tech enthusiasts.. which really seems to be the initial target the Networks.

But as expected, the Launch was OK!.. on the expected lines. “mediocre”

We can expect the prices to drop sometime in 09 the buyers dryout!

This is one of the best reasons why we all should be eagerly awaiting what Android OS and its device manufacturers will hold for us. Android : opensource hence free…. —-> cheaper mobile devices with great experience!

HTC “DREAM” rolls up its FCC

Posted on August 26, 2008. Filed under: android | Tags: , , , , , , |

As much as we’d hate these “unnecessary” preparatory procedures, whether it be testing for bugs, vulnerabilities.. or simply throwing it on the shelves, T-Mobile and HTC are indeed teaming up, as speculated, to launch the first Android powered mobile phone in the US Market.

Codenamed HTC Dream is a full Touch screen device with a fullsize qwerty keyboard, according to FCC submitted paper, a little less taller than iPhone ( not a thinner as we;d hoped!)

Nevertheless, It remains to see what other Manufacturers are prepping for utilising this potential iPhone Killer app. Im more interested to see some smartphone mobile devices ( those without huge qwerty). It should be interesting to see how Android perphones on an average hardware device. With HTC already tried out a windows smartphone  clamshell – HTC Startrek, which seemed more like a test device.. we can safely assume that HTC will injure or atleast pinch the Nokia-Symbian Combination in the future.
